CANDLE SAFETY and CARE TIPS
- Never leave a candle unattended
- Keep candle out of
reach of children and pets
- Always extinguish candle when wax is 1/2” deep
from the bottom of the jar. This will eliminate any hazard of the jar breaking
due to heat
- Don’t burn candle longer than 4 hours. Four (4) hours is the
maximum to burn candle for a long life and safety.
- Always extinguish candle,
then trim wick, and relight it.
- Keep wick trimmed to 1/8" to 1/4”, AT
ALL TIMES, to prevent black soot and smoking. If the wick is getting long after
burning, extinguish it, trim it and relight it! A good rule of thumb...if you
see black smoke coming from the flame - it is time to trim your wick.
- Don’t
blow candle out. This will put black soot on the side of the jar or cause a spray
of hot wax. Instead, take a pen, or spoon and lay wick in the wet wax to
extinguish. Then pull wick back up to the upright centered position. This
serves two purposes:
1. It will re-wax the wick 2. It will be easier to
relight - Keep wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches, or other foreign
materials that may present a fire hazard.
- Never allow the flame to come in
contact with the side of the container. Move wick back to the center with a
metal spoon handle while the wax is still hot.
- Always burn candle on a
stable, protected heat-resistant surface. It is good to use a candle safe
plate.
- Never burn a candle if the container is cracked, chipped, or broken.
- Carefully handle candle after use as wax is liquid and jar will still be hot.
- Place candles in a draft free area. If the flame is moving the candle is in a
draft.
